This is a pristine condition Selmer Paris 130th Anniversary Adolphe Sax model alto saxophone, serial number 774991 (and # 68 of the limited production run of this model). Most limited edition model Selmers are basically versions of their current models (like the Bird series of the Reference 54), but this was a truly redesigned horn with features not seen on any other Selmer. It is an exquisite horn for serious collectors.
This alto was made as a tribute to the inventory of the saxophone, Adolphe Sax. It features a cool matte silver plated body with burnished (shiny) silver keys, with unique engraving commemorating this historic sax. Like the original Adolphe horns, it features metal key touches, but retains modern keywork to high F#. The keyguards have all been redesigned too, for a cool “antiquated” look. Pads are a white roo pad without resonators, similar to what was the norm 100+ years ago on saxophones. It's the perfect blend of old and new, and looks incredible.
This horn looks to have been played just a handful of times. There's a bit of finish wear around the neck strap ring, and a little mark on the bell flare. I see no deep scratches, and absolutely no dents or dings. It is flawless condition. Pads are still in like-new condition, and the sax will get a fresh pro set up from our repair shop before shipping. We'll go through it and make sure it is sealing perfectly and in tip-top playing shape.
If you are looking for a horn to add to the collection, this is a great option (we have one other, which we are keeping for our museum too!). It was made in a super-limited production run and finding them in this kind of condition is not easy. Ships in its original case (which shows some very minor scuffing/shelf wear, as seen in the photos) with original accessories, including its uniquely designed mouthpiece.
