Really nice condition King Super 20 Silver Sonic tenor sax, serial number 613306. This is a late era model, and while the earlier ones go for a lot more money, this tenor is a great option for players wanting a Silver Sonic (sterling silver bell and neck) without dropping $4k+.
This tenor is in very nice shape and has obviously been well cared for. The original lacquer on the tube shows typical wear from where it may rest against the player during use, but the horn has certainly not been banged around. A couple very small, cosmetic pings here and there, but no major dents or past repairs. There are no resolders, and the bell flare has never been bent. The original sterling silver neck has never been pulled down. A previous owner did install a mic pickup, but we're going to remove that and seal it with a flush plug (made of sterling, to match the neck), and our work will be seamless when complete.
This horn came to us on very old pads, well past prime. As such, it will be getting a full repad/overhaul from our shop. Included in the price, this will include all new pads, matched with seamless metal resonators, as well as new material (corks/felts) and adjustment. We'll ship the sax in tip-top playing shape, backed by our one year mechanical warranty on the work.
Currently blowing through some leaks, I can still get a sense of the power this tenor has. Once we get it padded up with new firm leather pads and metal resonators, this horn will peel paint! I expect a strong response and big, edgy sound. This horn ships in its original hardshell King tenor sax case, as pictured.
