HELP, I Want One!

This is a 1929 vintage Selmer Paris “New Large Bore” series alto saxophone, serial number 10215. This alto has been lovingly restored in all new silver plate that is gorgeous to see in person; it really pops! It also has all new pads, though could use a quality pro adjustment to really get in good playing shape.

The photos don't do this beauty justice. It looks amazing, with new shiny silver plate throughout. Some new aftermarket engraving in a floral pattern was also added along the side of the bell, as seen in the photos. Physically, the sax shows no dents, dings, resolders, or previous evident repairs, including to the original neck. It is in tremendous shape tip to tip.

After the fresh plating, this alto was repadded using Selmer style lether pads and brown plastic resonators. All are still in like-new shape. This sax is playing and sealing well until you got down around the lower range, and there's a couple leaks there and some minor clicky keys. It could use a quality adjustment/regulation to iron out the kinks. With our repair shop backed up for months, we're lowering the price and selling this alto as-is. If you have a favorite local tech who can do it for you, you'll be way ahead in the game.

There's a lot of players out there who haven't played these early pre-Mark VI Selmers, and you're missing out. It has that characteristic warm core that sets Selmer apart (you immediately recognize it as a Selmer, tonally), but it definitely has more spread and isn't as focused/centered as a Mark VI or newer Selmer Paris. Takes your air very quickly. Great little player with looks to kill, and ships in a vintage Selmer Paris case too.
