Pictured above is a beautiful, like-new Master 97 tenor sax in gold lacquer, manufactured by P. Mauriat with a serial number, PM0628218. This saxophone is a well-balanced professional level modern instrument with full keywork from low Bb up to palm F#. The upper and lower stacks utilize ribbed construction to minimize damage to the posts and body-tube on impact, all key actions are driven by blued-steel needle and flat-springs. All tone holes from top to bottom are drawn and straight, the octave pips for the body and neck are sterling silver, the neck has a higher bronze content than the body tube/bow/bell, and the whole horn is in gold lacquer.
The Master 97 plays with a tight, lush, modern tone that projects nicely with great intonation. Although its tone is slightly spread, it is a very flexible instrument; depending on the mouthpiece setup, a player can confidently take on any style, concert/classical and even on to the more commercial styles like jazz/pop/blues/rock.
We are pricing this one as a floor model, so it has never been owned, just playtested a few times. There seems to be a resolder on the bell-key guard closest to the Bb, but that is this horns only blemish. We will give it a saxquest set-up and a 1 year mechanical-warranty on the materials, although it's currently playing great on its materials from the factory.
This horn ships in perfect playing condition with a contoured P. Mauriat case and the original Super VI neck.
