Original Silver Martin Handcraft Alto Sax - Needs Restoration - Serial # 84254
Later vintage Martin Handcraft (first version) alto sax, serial number 84254. This alto is long overdue for a restoration, but with our repair shop backed up for months, we've decided to let it go as-is at a super low price.
When a sax is as tarnished as this one, it is hard to see through to its potential, but this horn has a lot going for it. There are no dents or dings, no signs of major past damage. Under that tarnish, the original silver plating is 98% intact with only very minor finish wear. The original neck too (with matching serial #) has never been pulled down or damaged. Everything is there for the horn to be restored.
With a fresh cleaning, new pads and material, and regulation, this alto can definitely be made to sing again. If you dabble in sax repair on a bench at home, or have a favorite tech you can get it to, you can save a bundle on this horn. Ships in a strong hard case.
