Bundy I Bass Clarinet with Nickel Keys and a Charles Bay Improved Angle Neck #24581 - As-is Bargain
Plays As-Is
Here we have a Selmer USA Bundy I bass clarinet with a Charles Bay 'Improved Angle' neck, serial #24581. These instruments are great for a student or pit musician, this one is in need of a full overhaul, but it plays enough for a playtest for the time being.
The Bundy brand was mainly a low cost instrument manufacturer for the student market of the 1960s and 1970s. They generally featured robust nickel plated key-work, plastic body's on the clarinets. This Bundy is a single body construction, made from plastic, with plateaued key-work down to low Eb.
All the pads are old, possibly original to the 1960s, so an overhaul is suggested, but to keep costs down we are offering it in as-is condition. Fortunately, it plays through the leaks decently; there is no telling how long these pads will last. The body is in good shape, the only blemishes to be found are small scrapes and plateware on the key-work. If you'd like to add an overhaul at a discount we've added the option to do so.
In the overhaul we will completely disassemble, clean, and replace all pads, corks, felts, and replace them with fresh materials. The key-work will get refitted, so everything is tight, and glides with ease. A 1-year mechanical repair warranty will be included which will cover all leaks and materials that may need adjusting within that time, no body work is covered. If you go with the overhaul repair service, please allow for an 8-week turnaround.
If you're a student or a pit musician doubling for extra wages this is a great instrument to pick up. We will ship it in as-is condition with the Charles Bay neck and bell in a classic navy blue exterior Bundy case with red interior.
